She graduated from Colerain High School in Cincinatti in 1958 and married the love of her life, Delton Gale Smith on February 6, 1960, in Cincinatti. They moved to Rushville, Indiana, where she began a career of administrative support, moving in subsequent years to various communities in Indiana as Delton's career required, finally settling for many years in Indianapolis. She gave birth to her son Terry Allen in 1962 and her daughter Tonja Lynne in 1964.
Throughout the years in Indiana Glenda was an active member and lay-leader at Calvary Tabernacle church. In 1976 she embarked with her family in what she would call "the adventure of a lifetime" as Delton responded to a call to vocational ministry, serving as an itinerate evangelist, traveling all over the United States and speaking In hundreds of churches. Then in 1989 she and Delton settled in Parkersburg, West Virginia where he, with her strong and wise partnership, served as Senior Pastor of Christian Life Center for 22 years. During her time in Parkersburg Glenda played a key leadership role at CLC including positively impacting countless lives through teaching the very popular Young Adult Sunday School class for many years. She and Delton also played an important role in The LIfe Christian Church in West Orange New Jersey, providing oversight through Pastor Delton serving on the church presbytry for a number of consequential years. They retired to the Columbus Ohio area in 2011 and became faithful and active leaders at Chapel North church in Westerville. As their health declined they were relocated by their family to the Kansas City area in 2020 to be cared for by their daughter.
Glenda was known for her generosity and gift giving. She selflessly poured her life into her family, caring for her children, and when they were raised and married spoiling her grandchildren. She was a woman of much prayer. She and Delton had a magical marriage that spanned 64 years. When Delton passed away on June 24, 2024, it seemed inevitable that she would soon re-join her life soulmate. As she has said many times ''we had a wonderful life together.''
She is survived by her son Terry (Sharon), daughter Tonja (Greg), grandchildren Sumerr, Caleb (Lindsay), Chelsea, Chloe (Sean), Christian (Amanda), Colton (Ashlynn), Cara, greatgranchildren, Max Alexander Gale and Wolfgang Alexander.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, January 4th, at The Life Christian Church, 747 Northfield Avenue, West Orange, NJ. This service will be a celebration of Glenda's life and a celebration of her and Delton's life together as there was no public Memorial Service for Delton because of Glenda's feeble health.
