Eleanor Drews Richardson Whitener, 87, of Olathe died Aug 12, 2018 at the Good Samaritan Nursing Center. She was born July 1, 1931 in Olathe, KS to Carl A. Drews and Mildred Smith Drews. Eleanor married Clarence “Corky” Richardson in 1950.
She worked at John Deere before owning her own property management service for 25 years. Eleanor was President of the Olathe Association for Exceptional Children and helped establish the developmental learning center of Olathe School District. She was a parent volunteer with the Special Olympics. Eleanor was a lifelong member of the American Legion Auxiliary Earl Collier Post #153 in Olathe.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers: Carl Duane and Loren Edward Drews; and sister, Carol Bodiford.
She is survived by her three daughters: Dixie Gilliland (Ron); Nancy Smith (Larry); and Karla Richardson of Olathe; son, Clarence Arthur Richardson of Spring Hill; brother, Charles Drews (Betty) of Lenexa; sister-in-law, Norma Drews; 5 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 am with service to follow on Saturday, Aug. 18 at 11:00 am at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 15315 W. 151st St., Olathe, KS 66062. Burial will follow in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens.
