William Lansing (Bill) Scranton, 87, passed away on May 5, 2014. Born to Lansing William and Mabel Hughes Scranton, June 21, 1926, in OKC, he graduated from Parker High School, Chicago, 1944. He served in the U.S. Navy and Reserves for 10 years and later earned a degree in electronics at OSU. Bill married Dorothy Welsh in Chicago, 1951 and returned to Oklahoma City to raise his family. In addition to a long career at Seagate (GE, Honeywell, MPI), he started his own locksmith business. He was very proud of getting his pilot’s license and building an ultralight airplane. Bill was an avid tennis player, and at various times in his life he enjoyed ham radio, electronic projects, stock car racing, bowling, water skiing, fishing, stunt flying, tinkering with his cars, machining, and volunteering with the Civil Air Patrol. Bill was predeceased by his parents; wife, Dorothy; sister, Margaret; and daughter, Ellen. He is survived by daughters Rita Scranton; Peggy (Meg) Morgan and husband, Wade; and Linda Grzybowski and husband, Allan. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren, Thomas, Christopher, Lindsay and Samuel; 2 great-grandchildren, Joscellen and Kay Lee; nieces Ellie, Cassandra and Alexis and nephews, John, Bill and Jonathan. The family wishes to acknowledge the professional and loving care he received by Valir Hospice these last few years.
