Growing up Wesley lived in many different states, as his father, Frederick Burckel was transferred from base to base. After graduating from Midwest City High School, class of 1980, Wesley worked for the City of Midwest City as an Animal Control Officer and later promoted to Dispatcher. In 1989 Wesley lost his beloved Mother, Karen Burckel. He then took on many odd and ends jobs traveling from Indiana to Kansas City. He had great leadership qualities and always found himself being promoted to management. Wesley came back to Oklahoma City in 2005, where he lived out the rest of his life.
Wesley made friends easily and never met a stranger. He was very caring and was known for his charming, and loving personality. Wesley spent the later part of his life with friend and caregiver Robbie Watson-Enright. Wesley and Robbie were inseparable and bonded as best friends. Wesley had a love for muscle cars, museums, genealogy, history, and Indian Heritage. He was very patriotic and always had an opinion when it came to politics. He will be missed greatly, but being a Christian, he has ascended to his eternal resting place and home in Heaven.
He is survived by his brother, Mark Burckel; sister, Christina Schiebert; and nephew, Christopher Burckel.
