Vicki was the first of three children born to Charles K. and Patsy M. Bowen. She grew up in Bethany, Oklahoma, attended Western Oaks Elementary and Middle School, Putnam City West High School and earned her degree in psychology from The University of Central Oklahoma. As an infant and throughout the remainder of her life, Vicki was naturally curious and gifted in so many ways. She loved music and was self-taught on the piano; she loved to sing, compose music and write lyrics and poetry. Vicki found great pleasure in creating things of beauty from various mediums and she loved to share her creations with those she loved.
Even though Vicki is and will continue to be deeply missed by her family, we are blessed with countless fond and happy memories of her. The love the family shared for the first-born grandchild can still be felt today and although there are numerous loving “Vicki” stories, our favorites will always include those about her big-sister protection of her little brother and sister. She will forever bring smiles to our faces when we remember her loving personality, sense of humor, inquisitive mind, and her kind and loving spirit.
When young, Vicki always said her nightly prayer: “Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray the Lord my soul to keep, but if I should die before I wake, I pray the Lord my soul to take”… and throughout all the years that followed, that prayer was often used as a ‘goodnight’ at the end of a late-night text or phone call. The family can now find comfort knowing that her prayer has been answered. She is now joyfully singing with all the other angels in Heaven and walking hand-in-hand with her Heavenly Father as he welcomes His beautiful daughter home. Vicki is now at peace.
Vicki is survived by her father, Charles “Charlie” Bowen and her “bonus-mother,” Cassandra “Cassie” Bowen of Oklahoma City, her mother, Patsy Parr and husband, Cody Parr, of Oklahoma City, her brother, Jeffery “Jeff” Bowen and wife, Cynthia and her niece and nephew, Jack and Jenna of Dallas, Texas, and her sister Darcie Bowen and fiancé, Matt Norwood, of Oklahoma City. She also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends – and among others left behind, our family offers its deepest appreciation and gratitude to Vicki’s friend and case-manager of 13 years, Anne-Marie Brown of Port St, Lucie, Florida. She made Vicki’s world a better place.
