Scott Winters

Bryan Scott Winters, of Edmond, left us far too soon on Thursday, August 12, 2021. Scott was born September 12, 1973 in Jacksonville, Texas to Alfred Bryan Winters and Janice Winters MClouskey. Scott would attend school in Jacksonville until his junior year, ultimately graduating from Moore High School in 1992. An excellent baseball player thorough his high school years, Scott would attend Hillsdale Community College with a scholarship thanks to his skill.

After college, Scott would enlist in the military, serving with the United States Coast Guard. Of his service, the following has been said:

Petty Officer Scott Winters honorably served on active duty in the United States Coast Guard (USGC) for just under six years. During his time in the Coast Guard, Scott successfully graduated from Boot Camp, went on to attend and graduate from Damage Control School, before serving on board an USCG Cutter for a short period, before transferring to the Pacific Tactical Law Enforcement Team (PACTACLET) in San Diego, CA.

During his tour at PACTACLET, Scott was put through weeks of rigorous physical, tactical, and weapons training. Scott valiantly excelled, successfully completing the demanding training regimen. Therefore earing his initial Boarding Team Member certification. Scott was such a big part of his team, he was then selected to continue onto earning the prestigious Tactical Boarding Officer Pin. A pin very few have earned the right to bear on their chest.

Scott physically excelled as a team member and as a leader. He deployed on several counter narcotic missions primarily in the southern pacific and Caribbean. During his deployments, Scott and his teammates made several seizures totaling over 20 metric tons of cocaine. Resulting in many long term prison sentences of dozens of criminals. Scott was awarded several unit merit accommodation medals for his efforts in the successful seizures of cocaine. Scott and his teammates create an incredible bond due to the many deployments, hours of training, hours in the gym keeping mission ready, and experiences on those mission only they can possibly relate to in one another.

Returning to Oklahoma, Scott would marry the love of his life, Amanda, becoming a dad to Tristan, and a “bonus” father to Eddie, and Missy. He never lost his thirst for adventure, enjoying skydiving, kayaking, hiking… absolutely anything and everything involving the outdoors. He shared this love with Amanda, the two sharing a bucket list of adventures they would pick from at every opportunity. When he wasn’t on the move he was helping out his fellow veterans, volunteering with the Oklahoma County Veterans Program where he would help teach in the computer lab.

Scott had the biggest heart. He would do anything for anyone. He was always up for an adventure, whether it was skydiving or hiking or traveling to new places and trying new things with his wife, Amanda. Scott loved spending time with his friends and fellow veterans. Mostly, Scott loved his wife and their three children more than anything and was so proud of each one.

Scott was preceded in death by his father, Alfred Bryan Winters; and unfortunately since Scott’s passing, Father-in-law, Randy Schultz.

Scott leaves behind his wife Amanda Winters; son Tristan Winters of Mustang, OK; step-son Eddie Williams and step-daughter Missy Williams of Edmond, OK; mother Janice Winters MClouskey, and step-father Rick McCloskey; and mother-in-law, Virginia Schultz of Newcastle, OK; sister Nikki Winters Bobbit and husband Michael Bobbit of Jacksonville, TX; brother-in-law Josh Schultz of Newcastle, OK; and four nieces.
