Ruby Mae Brewer passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 2, 2015. She was born April 18, 1928, in Pharaoh to James and Myrtle (Putney) Harrison, the youngest of 3 daughters. She graduated from Classen High School and then earned her degree from Oklahoma City University where she met and married fellow classmate, Vernon Taylor “Buffy” Brewer. After graduation they began their professions in elementary education with Oklahoma City Public Schools. Ruby had a love and an extraordinary talent for music, playing bridge, and teaching kindergarten, but her favorite time was time spent with her family. Ruby and Buffy and their young sons, Randy and Rick, were actively involved in Wesley United Methodist Church, Boy Scouts, and softball. Later as the family grew, everyone enjoyed spending time in their lake home at Tenkiller. A loving and generous wife, mother, and grandmother, Ruby will be missed by son Randy Brewer and wife Susan; grandchildren Rickie Farar and husband Tim; Valore Brewer and Chase Brewer, all of OKC; Jennifer McLin and husband Matt of Portland, OR; and 4 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Buffy; son, Rick; two sisters, Ruth Michaleas and Helen Wolfe; and grandchild, Monica Brewer. The family will receive friends Monday April 7, 2015 4pm – 6pm with public viewing 6pm – 8pm at Guardian West Funeral Home 5820 NW 41st Street, Warr Acres. Funeral Service will be held Tuesday April 8, 2015 at 2pm at Wesley United Methodist Church, 1401 NW 25 St. Oklahoma City. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery, 6001 NW Grand Blvd., Oklahoma City.
