Born on December 2, 1953, to Dorothy Marion (White) Hammond and Ronald Clyde Hammond, Ronnie was the eldest of three boys. He is survived by his brother, James William Hammond, and many beloved cousins, including Amy and Don Booher, Nancy Kaye Nida, Laurie and John Allen, Suzanne Whitman, and Carol LeBaron. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Stephen Hammond of Oklahoma City, and a host of family members, including his grandmothers, Dorothy Forbes White of Poteau, and Ulyss Couch of Oklahoma City, and his cherished aunts and uncles.
Ronnie was a proud graduate of Northwest Classen High School, class of 1971, where he nurtured his love for music and the arts. He later pursued studies at CSU, now UCO, where he further honed his passions. Ronnie was a valued member of The Chryslers, a traveling student choir performance group, and had a deep and enduring love for classical music, opera, and theater. His knowledge and enthusiasm for the arts were matched only by his love for history and his fascination with the craft of ceremonial swords.
An enthusiast of Tai Chi, Ronnie found peace and strength in the practice, reflecting his deep connection to both mind and body. His devout Catholic faith guided him throughout his life, providing him with a foundation of strength, compassion, and unwavering devotion.
While Ronnie's interests were varied, his family remained his center. He was blessed with the support of many, especially his dedicated family caregiver, Lisa Snow, affectionately known as "Lisa Angel”, who had tended to several members of the family over the past several years. Lisa became a beloved member of the family, providing tender care during Ronnie's time of need.
Ronnie's memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. He was a kind, thoughtful, and passionate individual whose legacy will continue through his family, friends, and the many lives he touched. May he rest in peace.
A Graveside Service will be held for Ronnie on Friday, December 13th at 11:00 am at Memorial Park Cemetery located in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
