Robert Roy Tipton went home to his Heavenly Father after a valiant battle against pancreatic cancer on November 14, 2012. Bobby was born August 5, 1958 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Marland Tipton and Naomi Estes Tipton who preceded him in death. Bobby grew up in Oklahoma City and graduated from Putnam City High School. Bobby was married to Janna Beth Moore in Oklahoma City, OK on October 20, 1984.
He retired from the USDA Grazinglands Research Lab in El Reno. Bobby held a special place in his heart for his co-workers.
Bobby was a 32º Mason, member of Myrtle Lodge #145; PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor; endowment member of the National Rifle Association; Amateur Radio Operator, KI5XO; licensed mechanical contractor; season ticket holder of the Oklahoma City Barons.
He cherished hunting & fishing with family, especially nephew, Rodney. He enjoyed volunteering for the annual youth hunts in partnership with Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation and remained close to those involved in the project. Bobby loved NHRA drag racing, ice hockey and astronomy. He was an avid runner.
Bobby is survived by his wife of the home, Janna Beth Tipton. He is also survived by: brother Clay Tipton of Harrah, brother Bill Tipton and wife Lois of Bethany; sister Rose and husband Tom Bessman of Oklahoma City; 12 much adored nieces and nephews.
Funeral services and interment are Monday, 10 am, Chapel Hill Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 8701 NW Expressway, OKC. Flowers at the chapel are appreciated.
