Robert W. Potts left behind his earthly burden after a sudden, brief illness on 12 August 2022, with his wife of 48 years Marcy, at his side. He will be laid to rest near his parents Thomas and Betty at Arlington Memory Gardens at a graveside service.
After living in Japan, Hawaii, Florida, Maine, and Illinois as a ‘military brat,’ the Potts family finally settled in Midwest City, OK, where Bob graduated high school in 1969. He went on to study at OU, joining Kappa Alpha, before turning toward the skilled trade of pipefitting. Bob worked at General Motors in Oklahoma City the entire time the assembly plant was open. He later returned to college part time at St. Gregory, studying Latin. Never bored or inactive in retirement, he traveled all over the world with his wife, and while at home, enjoyed wine tastings, riding his dirt bikes, watching college football with his cats, and always had a book in hand. He greatly valued volunteer work, and dedicated many years to Boy Scout Troop 111 of Chandler, as well as teaching adult literacy in Pottawatomie County.
Bob is survived by his wife Marcy, his son Robert Jr. (wife Lin) who serves in the Navy, along with their young daughter Ember to whom he was a most loving and devoted Pepaw, his daughter Laura (husband Chris), and his elder brother Tom (wife Karen). He is missed terribly, and will be remembered for his love of animals and the outdoors, for being a best friend and husband, and the best daddy one could have.
