Robert Lewis Houston

On February 02, 1933, Robert L. Houston was born in Savannah, Georgia to Alex and Henrietta Butler Houston who preceded him in death. He was the fifth of seven children. He graduated from Savannah Beach High School in Savannah, Georgia.

On April 20, 2017, Robert departed this life at the age of 84 years old. He accepted Christ at an early age in Savannah and later moved to Oklahoma where he joined and attended Hillwood Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. O.B. Burrough until his health started to fail.

He met and married the Love of his life, Mrs. Daisy Houston. They were married for over 49 years. To this union one son was born, Mr. Christopher Houston of the home. Christopher was there for his parents through all of his father’s sickness. He took good care of them both. He gave up his life in Denver, Colorado to come back home to take care of his parents and the Lord is going to truly bless him.

Robert served as a First Class Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force and National Guard from January 18, 1952 until January 21, 1993. He worked for Tinker Air Force Base for 25 years where he retired with honors.

Robert enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, working in his yard, fishing and working in his garden where he raised nice vegetables like peas, tomatoes, okra, corn and lots more. If you wanted to help, he would always say, “I got this”. Those were his favorite words.

He also enjoyed his bowling teams. He joined the following bowling leagues: Tinker Air Force Base, Sunnylane, Planet and Heritage Bowling Lanes.

He leaves to celebrate his life and legacy his darling wife, Mrs. Daisy Houston of the home and son, Christopher Houston; sister Peggy L. Tanksley of Savannah, Georgia; sister and brother-in-law Ruby and Micheal James of Kent, Washington; Rosie Houston of Denver, Colorado; Jeanetta and Godfrey Bass of Federal Way, Washington; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. The family would like to give a special thank you to Choice Hospice for the loving care they gave to Robert.
