Robert Boyd Delano, 92, returned to his heavenly home on February 19, 2018. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him in his long and full life and ultimately gave him peace. His comforting presence, timely sense of humor and congenial spirit will be greatly missed.
Robert Boyd was born to the late Chance and Eula Delano of Guymon, Oklahoma on August 11, 1925. He was raised during the Dust Bowl in the Oklahoma panhandle and joined the Army 11th Airborne at the age of 18. He served in the Philippines and Okinawa during World War II. He attended both Oklahoma State University and graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a degree in Journalism. Robert worked most of his life in Finance, and retired from Valero in 1979. Upon retirement he opened Morrow’s Nuthouse in Oklahoma City.
Robert was blessed with a large and loving family. He married his college sweetheart Marjorie Ann Bassett on December 22,1947. Robert is survived by his son Don Delano and wife Anne, his daughter Nancy Hall, and son David Delano and wife Shara; his loving grandchildren Matthew Hall and wife Susan, Joshua Hall, Natalie Doak and spouse Evan, Greg Delano and wife Lindsay, Brian Delano and wife Meghan, Daisha Delano, and Benjamin Delano and wife Mary. He is also survived by two beautiful great grandchildren, Addison Doak and Adam Delano, along with a lovingly connected extended family and friends.
Robert’s life will be honored at First Presbyterian Church of Oklahoma City at 2:00pm on February 23, 2018. He will be buried at Rose Hill Cemetery in Oklahoma City.
