Randy attended OSU for five years and was a Consumer Loan Officer for 40 years. After his retirement from banking at the young age of 62, he worked part-time as the “Magic Maker” at Macy’s until he began having health issues.
Randy met Jackie McMahan on a mixed doubles bowling team and the rest is history. They were married February 26, 1981. Out of this union came two daughters, Courtney and Michelle. They celebrated their 40th anniversary by going on a cruise.
Randy grew up in Kansas, Oklahoma, Colorado, and Florida before returning to Oklahoma. His family moved a lot for his dad’s job as a Mortgage Lender or for finding the best doctors for his older brother who had Cystic Fibrosis. Although he didn’t have many hobbies, he enjoyed doing yard work and planting flowers to make his yard the best looking in the neighborhood. He also enjoyed watching and cheering for his favorite teams—OU, OSU, OKC Thunder, and Kansas City Chiefs.
Randy was raised in the church and became a Deacon at Baptist Temple. He also served as Sunday School Teacher and ministered at Baptist Retirement Center. In more recent years he was a member of Newchurch.
His best memories were made spending time with his family and extended family. He was the #1 fan of his daughters and would support all their activities mostly being the one behind the video camera, making the memories last for the Owens Family Museum. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle with extended family whether it was a short ride to eat or a long ride for an adventure. He also loved making the trip to Tulsa to see his children and grandchildren as often as he could.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Roger Kent Owens. Randy is survived by his wife, Mary Jacqueline “Jackie” Owens of Oklahoma City; daughters Courtney Elizabeth Norton and husband, Josh Norton of Okmulgee, OK; Michelle Renee Hartog, and husband Jason Hartog of Tulsa, OK; and grandchildren Graham Owen Hartog and Audrey June Hartog, and many other family members and friends.
