Mary Wilbanks Inglish died December 21, 2013, in Enid, Oklahoma. She was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on March 23, 1926, and graduated from Classen High School in 1943. She was the only surviving daughter of Hilma Marie Thurston and Grady Russell Wilbanks. She received a degree in Journalism and Social Sciences from Oklahoma A & M, Stillwater in 1947. At A & M, she was assistant editor of the yearbook, managing editor of O’ Collegian. She was a member of Chi Omega Sorority & President of Mortar Board and President of Theta Sigma Phi, a journalism sorority. She was married to William Scales Inglish, Sr., on November 5, 1949. He preceded her in death in 1998, just shy of their fiftieth wedding anniversary. Mary was active in Crown Heights Christian Church, Oklahoma City, since 1950. At Crown Heights, she served as church librarian, the first preschool teacher, Bible school leader and Sunday school teacher. She collaborated with husband, Bill, to produce The Oklahoma Christian, monthly newspaper of the Christian churches. She taught kindergarten and second grade at Wiley Post and Putnam City Central for 20 years before her retirement. After retirement she was an active volunteer at the Oklahoma City Zoo, Cowboy Hall of Fame, Crown Heights Group 3 quilters at Crown Heights, The Christian Home (now Bradford Village), and Oklahoma Disciples State office. She is survived by her four children: Rev. William Jr. and wife, Connie, of Bartlesville, Amy Catherine Schovanec and husband, Ed, of Enid, Thomas Russell and wife, Jean, of Oklahoma City and Mary Caroline Appleman and husband, Kent of Tulsa. She also had eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, December 24, at the Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper Chapel. Memorials may be made to Crown Heights Christian Church.
