She was born in Carney, Oklahoma on October 6th, 1931 to parents John and Eva Shaver.
Mary graduated from Central High in Oklahoma City.
She was married to J. Martin Edwards.
Mary Ellen worked as a church secretary for First Baptist Church.
She was a member of Woman’s Missionary Union. Mary had many passions in her life. She loved being a Preacher’s wife at church, partaking in the County Fair prize winning pumpkin log, as well as prayer groups, attending and supporting all of her children’s activities, sewing and animals- specifically birds. Mary also had a green thumb and enjoyed growing her gardens with fruits and vegetables.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband J. Martin Edwards, and her parents John and Eva Shaver.
Mary is survived by her 4 children, Scott Edwards and wife Kaye, Steven Edwards (deceased) and wife Kay, Tim Edwards, and Candace Edwards, grandchildren Brandon Edwards, Daysha Brown, Charity Eldred, Josiah Edwards, Krystal Robin, Daniel Edwards, Bethany Robin, Jeremy Edwards, Leah Edwards, Nathan Edwards, Anthony Edwards, John Howard, Zach O’Briant, and Isaac O’Briant, 13 great-grandchildren, and 1 brother John Shaver and wife Sherry of Rogers, Arkansas.
Mary was a servant for The Lord, and set the bar high as a preacher’s wife.
A memorial service for Mary will be held Saturday, July 8th, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Memorial Park Funeral Home, 13313 N Kelley Ave, Oklahoma City, OK 73131.
