Mamie Alma Freeman passed away June 20, 2011. She was born December 2, 1907 to Mary Alice and George Walter Morris. She was the youngest of five girls and came to Oklahoma from Texas by covered wagon. She married Ed Dennis in 1923 and to this marriage were born three children; Wanda Ruth, Bill and Isla. They were married till Ed’s death in 1952 In 1956 Mamie married J.D Freeman, they were married until his passing in 1999. Mamie was a member of the Eastern Star for over 50 years and was a Worthy Matron. She was an accomplished seamstress at some of the leading department stores in Oklahoma. Mamie was recognized by the Oklahoma State House of Representatives on her 100th birthday. In her later years, Mamie loved going to garage sales, her dolls, watching birds, roses and watching western shows. Preceding her in death are her parents, two husbands, 4 sisters, and infant daughter Wanda Ruth. Mamie is survived by her son Bill, daughter Isla, 9 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 12 great great grandchildren. Services for Mamie will be held 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 23, 2011 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home.
