Lottie Mae Higdon

Lottie Mae Higdon, 105, passed away on April 3, 2017. Lottie was born in Harrah, OK on November 12, 1911 to Calvin S. and Ina M Moore. Soon after birth, she and her family moved to homestead in Henderson, AR. At age of 16, she returned to Harrah where she went to school at Harrah High School. While at Harrah, Lottie met Lawson Higdon and they married in September 1929. They had one daughter, Bettye Jewell born in 1931. Some years later, OG&E transferred Lottie and Lawson to Oklahoma City. Lottie continued to live in her home after the loss of her husband in 2010, when she moved to Stillwater, OK. Lottie continued to live with her oldest granddaughter, Carol and husband Bill. People and Family were of great importance to her. She worked hard to provide for and love them. She enjoyed doing things for everyone and had fun being with people whether they were family or not. She worked at Falls Creek Baptist Camp, as a cook until she was in her late 90’s. She also enjoyed working for many years in the nursery of her church, West 10th Street Baptist Church. Lottie also enjoyed traveling. Lottie is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lawson G. Higdon; daughter, Bettye Jewell and husband James Blaine III; 5 brothers; and 2 sisters. Survivors include sisters, Grace Moore and Ruby Whitaker; grandchildren, Carol Holloway and husband Bill, Anita Prevost and husband Rick, Keith Gruhlkey; Thea Smith and husband Ted; great-grandchildren, Brian Holloway, Andra Siebold and husband Nick, Phillip Prevost and wife Elizabeth; Nathaniel Prevost and wife Melissa, Pete Prevost and wife Melissa, Keith J Gruhlkey, Megan Gruhlkey; Jason Smith and wife Shelli Kari Ransdell and husband Jeremy, Kristin Haffner and husband Matt, Kallin Smith, and Jesse Smith; great-great grandchildren, Grace, Hope, Avila, Bennet, Lawson, and Baby Silas who will arrive in July. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 7, 2017 at Memorial Park Cemetery Historic Chapel with interment to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
