He graduated Southeast High School and even went on to wrestle in college on a scholarship until he joined the Army. Larry joined the Army and served in Vietnam. He was in the Air Calvary before he made Green Beret. He very proudly served his country.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golf. Larry was also a fan of both the OSU Cowboys and OKC Thunder. However, none of the above could hold a candle to the joy from which he received from the time he spent with his two grandchildren, Ian and Elise.
Larry retired from OG&E after 30 years where he worked in human resources and SAP Consultant
Larry was preceded in death by his parents and younger brother, Gary.
He is survived by his wife, Kay Newell; son Lance Newell and wife Cristy; grandchildren Ian and Elise; brother Melvin Newell and wife Barbara; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Nelda and Jerry Woodard; nephew Robert Newell & family; nephew Travis Woodard & family; and niece Tarina Woodard.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Graveside services will be Saturday, March 14 at 1 p.m. at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
