John Eugene Haynes, 92, of Warr Acres, passed away at his home on March 12, 2024. One of six children born to Raymond and Ina Mae (Samples) Haynes, John was born on August 5, 1931, in Lexington, Oklahoma.
While attending Yukon High School, John lettered in softball. He graduated from Yukon High School in 1949. John went on to join the U.S. Navy doing his basic training in San Diego, CA. He served in the Korean War and was honorably discharged in April, 1952.
John married his sweetheart Maudie Elizabeth Smith on July 7, 1956, and they were married until her passing in January, 2011.
John worked as a plumbing contractor and passed this vocation to his son, Mike Sr., and his grandson, Brian.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife Maudie Haynes; sister Ruby Nation, and brothers Jimmy, Joe, and Jack Haynes. John leaves to carry on his legacy his son, Mike Haynes, Sr.; grandsons Brian Haynes and Michael Haynes, Jr.; step-daughter, Joan and husband Ronald Lawrence; sister, Lucille Cogburne; sister-in-law Bobbie Haynes; nephews Larry and Bill Nation and his constant companion at his side, Julie.
Visitation will be at Chapel Hill Funeral Home on Friday, March 15, 2024, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. A graveside service with Military Honors will be at 10 am, Saturday, March 16, 2024, at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
