Jody was born in Shawnee, OK, to James Marcus and Mary Alice (Lillard) Carmichael, Jr. Jody attended Andrew Johnson Elementary, John Marshal Junior High and graduated Harding High in ’62. She attending OU for one year and earned her degree in Elementary Education from Central State College. After graduation, Jody taught at St. John’s Episcopal School before graduating to Putnam School Systems where she taught until 1979. She went to work with greatness to the elaborate world of retailing at Balliet’s, where she also worked part-time while teaching. Jody’s put her experience in retail to work when she was employed at Red Fox Ltd. Jody’s special love of animals showed through in her volunteer work for Free to Live. She also spent a lot of her time pet sitting for friends. Jody also volunteered at Nichols Hills United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parent, Jim and Mary Alice Carmichael. Jody is survived by her loving sister Mary Ann Carmichael.
Many thanks to Jody’s friends and the loving animals she cared for. Also, a special thank you to her many caregivers for their support during Jody’s illness.
A memorial service will be held 10 a.m., Saturday, March 28, 2015, at Nichols Hills United Methodist Church, 1212 Bedford Drive.
