Jack Glasgow Barry passed away peacefully in his sleep on May 23, 2016, at 89 years of age. Jack was born and raised in Oklahoma City. After graduating high school, he served in the Army until the end of World War II. Upon returning from service, he attended The University of Oklahoma where he graduated. He met Barbara Bizzell there in a summer semester class. They fell in love and in 1950 were married. In the ensuing decade, they had three children, John, Sally, and Edie. Barbara and Jack were blessed with a long, happy 50+ years together and made many life-long friends along the way. They were members of Westminster Presbyterian church. Jack was a golfer, a cook, a book lover and had a quick witted, funny sense of humor.
Professionally, Jack was in the insurance business where he enjoyed a long career working in North Carolina and New Orleans. At age 66 Jack and Barbara chose retirement in their beloved Oklahoma City.
Jack will be greeted in heaven by his beautiful wife Barbara, little brother Bob, sister-in-law Joan and nephew Bobby Jr., as well as his parents Frances and Jack Barry.
Jack survived his 3 children and their spouses, nephew Frank Barry, and a plethora of grandchildren and great grandchildren, all of whom he enjoyed very much. He was very loved and will be missed.
A celebration of Jack’s life will be 11 a.m., Saturday, June 11th, held at the Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper Chapel. Memorials may be made to the Epworth Villa Benevolent Fund.
