Gary Thomas Ackerman

Gary attended Wartburg Lutheran College in Waverly, Iowa, graduating with a Bachelor’s degree. He went on to work as a Senior Salesman and General Manager for ChemCentral for 36 years.

Gary married Diane Faye Gutzmer in Stockton, Illinois on December 19, 1970 and two children were born from this union: Michael and Mark.

He loved playing sports and attending sporting events. He played softball and golf and was a season OU Football ticket holder. Gary and Diane enjoyed and always looked forward to their trips to Palm Springs every year during their retirement. Those who knew Gary will always remember him by his laugh.

Gary leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife Diane Ackerman; sons Michael Scott Ackerman and wife Michelle of Flower Mound, Texas and Mark Steven Ackerman and wife Shannan of Bentonville, Arkansas; brother Jim Ackerman and wife Sue of Vero Beach, Florida; sister Mary and husband Jim Carow of Tampa, Florida; very special grandson Cade Asher Ackerman; one niece and four nephews and his church family at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.

A Celebration of Life service will be 11 am, Saturday, November 27, 2021 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 10600 N. Council Road.

Memorial donations can be made in Gary’s name to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church or the National Kidney Foundation.
