Eddie Poole passed away at his home surrounded by his family at the age of 99. Eddie was born in Tulsa Oklahoma on June 8, 1924 to Grace and Ralston L Poole. At a young age the family moved to Oklahoma City. He attended Culbertson Elementary School, Central High School and Oklahoma Military Academy (OMA) and at the time of his death was the oldest living OMA cadet. He volunteered for the Army and served in World War II. He was one of our soldiers who fought in the Battle of the Bulge. Eddie enjoyed his time in the service and after his active-duty service he went on to serve many years in the Army Reserve retiring with a rank of Lt Colonel. After his active-duty service, he attended School of Business at the University of Oklahoma where he was a member of Phi Gamma Delta. Eddie met his future wife, Billye Dean Tucker, at OU and they went on to have a fabulous 76-year marriage.
Eddie began working at Greenlease Moore Cadillac in 1949 and continued on with Darby Everest Cadillac and Bob Moore Cadillac. He continued selling Cadillacs for 50 years and was involved in over 10,000 transactions of new, used and leased cars. He garnered many awards from the Cadillac Motor Company. He compiled 34 continuous years of membership in the prestigious Cadillac Crest Club, an organization for the top Cadillac salesman in the nation. Eddie sold 3 and 4 generations of many families of Cadillac buyers. He was affectionately called “The Cadillac Man” long before the actor in the movie of the same name was even born. During this time, he also owned and operated a 1600-acre cattle ranch near Durant Oklahoma.
Eddie is survived by his children Judy Poole Phillips, and Edward L (Buz) Poole. He is also survived by his granddaughter Jennifer and husband Jason Griffin and their children Anna and Thomas; his step-grandsons Adam and Greg Phillips, wife Jenny and children Will, Emily and Olivia and a host of other relatives.
Eddie is preceded in death by his loving wife Billye Dean Poole and his parents Ralston L Poole and Grace Poole.
We wish to thank his loving caregivers Liz Moore, Helen Dawson, Maria Silva and the Traditions Hospice nurses.
