Dorothy Ellen Hatt passed from this life on December 19, 2018, and into the Lord’s rest, peacefully surrounded by her loved ones. Dorothy was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and graduated from Capitol Hill High School in 1948. Afterwards, she attended Draughon’s Business College and worked for Western Union in communications and bookkeeping for 35 years before retiring to care for her family. Dorothy married the love of her life, Corydon William Hatt, on December 29, 1949; they will celebrate their 69th anniversary from Heaven this year. Dorothy was heavily involved in her Capitol Hill Class of 1948 reunion group, where she organized and fundraised for class reunions. She loved people and was a great listener. Extremely selfless and kind, her spark and light from within were immediately seen by all those she met. She enjoyed cooking, admired flowers, loved reading, told many jokes, and was fully devoted to her family’s help and support. Dorothy was also an avid sports fan and especially loved her OU Sooners and Colorado Rockies. She moved to Evergreen, Colorado, in 2009, to enjoy her retirement and become an integral member of her Elk Run Community. She was involved in prayer and Bible study, loved Super Bowl parties, won Bingo games, and met many dear friends. Mrs. Hatt was preceded in death by her husband Corydon, mother Kathryn, father Henry, a sister and brothers. She is survived by her 2 daughters, Lynda Zimms of Evergreen, Colorado, and her children; Marty, Cory, Hilary and Emily; and Robin Moorhead of Edmond, and her children; Amy, Allison, Katie, Callie, and Ian; and 15 great-grandchildren. Viewing will be Wednesday, December 26 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper Funeral Home, 6600 Broadway Ext. OKC. Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 27, 2018 at Piedmont United Methodist Church with burial to follow at Rose Hill Burial Park. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to MAGIC Foundation, helping children with life-threatening endocrine disorders in honor of her great granddaughter.
