Born on December 30, 1928, Donna was the only child of Donald S. and Gertrude H. Kennedy. From a very young age, she found company and joy in reading, which inspired her studies in higher education. She majored in English at Randolph-Macon Women’s College in Virginia, where she joined the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. She continued her education at The University of Oklahoma where she earned a Masters’ degree in Library Sciences.
Upon her graduation, she put her Library Sciences degree to use at the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation. Though no longer in school, Donna continued to think of herself as a student, always eager to learn about the world around her. Her passion for world cultures lead her into a new career as a travel agent. For over 30 years, she enriched the lives of her clients by facilitating trips to the world’s most beautiful and majestic destinations. She also fostered cultural enrichment in her lifelong home of Oklahoma City through many years of service on the Oklahoma City Philharmonic board.
Donna’s greatest service of all was to her family, who could always depend upon her as a source of positivity and love. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Tom Vogel. She is survived by her children, Phil Kidd III of Del Mar, CA, Margaret Kidd Defenderfer of Santa Monica, CA, and Donna Kidd McCampbell of Oklahoma City, OK, and their respective spouses, Dana, Kim, and Robert. She is also survived by her stepson Tom Vogel of Eugene, OR, and his wife Shay, as well as by her grandchildren, Connor Kidd and his wife Julie, Peter Defenderfer, Ann McCampbell Boyajian and her husband David, Cindy McCampbell , Kate Kidd, and Kennedy Kidd, and her two great-grandchildren, Colton Kidd and Henley Kidd. All of Donna’s family will be forever grateful that she taught them to be lifelong learners and adventurous travelers, for in doing so, she has truly given them the world.
A memorial service will be held at All Souls' Episcopal Church at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 14th.
