Donna will be dearly remembered by her two daughters, three grandchildren—Brandon (Yael) Kaufmann and Marissa Kaufmann, her great-granddaughter—Rose, and many family members and friends.
Donna and her husband, Bill Gart, enjoyed a beautiful 63-year marriage until Bill’s passing in 2023.
Donna is predeceased by her parents, Lester and Minerva Shoshone, her sister Erlene Silver and brother-in-law Sam Silver, and her sister Linda Steinhorn.
Donna was born on July 8, 1934, in Shawnee, Oklahoma. She grew up in Oklahoma City and later graduated from the University of Texas.
Donna and Bill began their life together in marriage on December 30, 1959, following Bill’s service at Fort Knox. Donna moved to Denver with Bill while he worked in his family business and later started his own sporting goods business. In 1971, Donna and her family moved to Dallas, Texas, where she spent the rest of her life.
Like her husband Bill, Donna had a passion for entrepreneurship. She was proudly known as “The Monogram Lady” in Dallas. She served the Dallas and broader community for many years with personalized embroidery services for newborns, children, and adults. She always loved doing nice things for others, including creating gifts with a personalized touch for her customers. Her family members continue to love the pieces she created for them over the years.
Donna was one of the kindest souls to ever walk this earth. Everyone who had the privilege of knowing her remembers her warmth, kindness, and truly lovely spirit.
Our family is grateful to Donna’s nieces and nephews, Gay (Larry) Hellman, Robert Silver, David (Peggy) Silver, Ann (Laurence) Scharff, and Leslie (Drew) Schwartz, for their love, support, and kind hospitality during this difficult time.
Services will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, March 28, at Temple B’nai Israel Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in Donna’s memory to Temple B’nai Israel or the Jewish Family Service of Colorado.
