Col. James (Jim) Daniel Thompson (ret.), of Yukon Oklahoma (formerly Cabot, Arkansas) went to be with our Lord on May 30, 2023, at the age of 92. Jim was born in Hall Summit, Louisiana to Ethridge and Effie Anna Thompson.
He is survived by the love of his life, Maxine whom he spent the last 70 years cherishing; two sons, a daughter-in-law (or daughter-in-love as he commonly referred to her); two granddaughters, a grandson, his wife, one great-granddaughter and a great-grandson due in October, along with several nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. Jim had seven siblings, all but one having preceded him in death.
Jim’s love for his country reflected in his 36 years 10 months and 4 days of dedicated service to the United States Air Force, retiring as a Colonel at Maxwell AFB, Alabama in 1985. Above all, Jim loved and served our Lord with all his heart and was a witness to all who had the pleasure of meeting him. He was a humble man dedicating his time and talents to Faith Baptist Church, Kiwanis International of Cabot, Arkansas, Site Coordinator for AARP Tax-Aide, and as a Court Appointed Special Advocate for children following retirement.
The family would like to thank the staff of Mercy Hospital ICU and the Mercy Rehabilitation Hospital for the outstanding care, love, and respect they provided him during his last weeks.
Visitation will be held 3-7 pm, Friday, June 9th, 2023, at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 10:00 am, Saturday, June 10th, 2023, at Memorial Park Funeral Home, 13313 N Kelley Ave, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73131. Graveside service will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
