On April 6th, 2017 Cecille Short at age 82 tragically passed away while walking her beloved dog, a Papillion named Taylor, in her neighborhood. She was born a few minutes after her twin sister Suzanne on June 24th, 1934, in Okmulgee to L.D. Phillips and Mary Ellen Bragassa. Cecille grew up and graduated from Bartlesville HS in 1952. She attended OU and OSU. She was a member of Phi Beta Phi sorority while at OU.
Back in Bartlesville working, she met her future husband of 52 years, Arnold Short, who was there playing basketball for the famed Phillips 66ers. Together, they led a Christ First, fulfilling life, while Arnold worked in Athletics and later the Methodist Ministry. As an active member and constant volunteer at Resurrection Free Methodist Church, she touched the lives of many. She loved to stay active, loved her neighbors, and especially loved the OKC Thunder, often texting her son-in-law and her friend Trudie during games.
She is survived by her two beautiful daughters, Lisa Carlile (Jerry) of Yukon and Melinda Clonts (Allen) of Broken Arrow, grandkids, Brittany (Jay) Tate of Choteau, Lauren Carlile, Reece Carlile, Alexis Clonts, and Davey Clonts, her oldest sister Beverly Williams of Tulsa and 4 great grandkids with a 5th on the way.
Cecille is preceded in death by her husband Arnold Short, her twin sister Suzanne McKnight, and her parents. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in her name to Resurrection Free Methodist Church at 6000 N. MacArthur Blvd, Warr Acres OK 73122. She touched many lives and will be greatly missed.
