in Oklahoma City, the daughter of Elizabeth Nichols Burwell Cox and Keene C.
Burwell. She was the granddaughter of Alma and G.A. Nichols,
developer of Nichols Hills and many other Oklahoma City
subdivisions. She attended Wilson Grade School, Classen High
School and Finch College. In her early years she was an
accomplished equestrian and participated in numerous horse
shows and competitions. She was an avid athlete, played
tournament badminton and later loved tennis and golf. She
married Judge William A. Berry of Stillwater, Oklahoma. She
was a long time member of the Nichols Hills Methodist Church
and the Oklahoma City Golf and Country Club established by
her grandfather as the center piece of the Nichols Hills
development. She was active and supportive of various
nonprofit organizations. She loved her family, her friends and
her life in Oklahoma City. She loved beautiful flowers and
enjoyed her gardens. She loved to travel with her husband and
friends and later with her children and grandchildren. She had
many wonderful friends in Harbor Springs, Michigan and Palm
Desert, California where she visited often. Carolyn was preceded
in death by her parents, brother Gilbert Nichols Burwell, husband
of 57 years William A. Berry and step father Morgan W. Cox.
She is survived by her daughter, Libby Payne and son-in-law,
Morton and her son, Nick Berry and five grandchildren,
Mary, Matthew, Morgan, Jon and Bennett and three great grandchildren, Mark, Henry and
Ethan. The family would like to express their sincere
appreciation to Laura Lynn's Home Care and a very special
thanks to Christy, her devoted caregiver. Donations may be
sent to Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation and the Nichols Hills
United Methodist Church. The memorial service will be held at the
Nichols Hills United Methodist Church on Thursday, October 10 at 4:00 pm.
