Robert Bruce Rector, 84, passed away unexpectedly at home on Friday May 3rd, 2024. Bruce was born on August 31, 1939 in Sulphur, Oklahoma, growing up in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He came to Arizona in 1966 where he lived in Phoenix for 10 years before moving to Tempe where he lived the past 48 years.
Bruce enjoyed the outdoors. He loved going to the Grand Canyon, taking walks, riding his bike, playing golf and you could always find him working in his yard of which he took great pride in. He enjoyed going to ASU football games but there was nothing bigger than the pride he had for his beloved OU. BOOMER SOONER!! Bruce proudly served 4 years in the Air Force as a MP, stationed at Stewart Air Force Base in upstate New York. He was also a member of the Arizona Lodge 2 Masonic Lodge where in October of 2023 he was recognized for his faithful service as a Master Mason for 50 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents Ed and Doris Rector and his brother Richard Rector of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Bruce is survived by his daughter Kathy(Rector) Broussard and her husband Jude Broussard of Kaplan, Louisiana, his Son Robert Rector and his wife Christy of French Lick, Indiana, his 3 Grandchildren, Justin Broussard and his wife Taylor, Ashley (Broussard) Clostio and her husband Coy Clostio and Paige Rector along with his 2 Great Grandchildren Juliet and Shepherd Clostio and 1 on the way John-Daniel Broussard.
Bruce was a loving Father, “Grandpa Bruce”, friend and neighbor. He will be missed.
Burial services will be held at Rose Hill Burial Park in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at a later date.
