On Saturday, August 1, 2020 Brenda Mitchell went home to meet her Creator after several years of fighting her declining health. Services are under the direction of Advantage Funeral Service and a graveside will be held on Friday, August 7, 2020 at 10am at Resthaven Memory Garden. A public visitation will be held at the Funeral home from 12-7pm on Thursday and the family will greet friends from 5-7pm Thursday evening at the funeral home.
Brenda was born in OKC on March 25, 1941 to James and Roberta Mitchell. She attended NW Classen High School in OKC. She spent time living in California as a young adult. Brenda worked in retail for her father’s business Spring Service and following the sale of the company, she worked for City Spring and Fleet Pride.
Brenda enjoyed bowling, going to tournaments, annual trips to Las Vegas, as well as trips to local casino’s with her friends. She also loved anything Disney, OU Football, listening to music, and traveling with her friends and family to Europe, Hawaii, California, and Alaska.
The last three years of her life were spent as a resident at Legends on Council Road Assisted Living and Memory Care facility. She loved Coca Cola and anyone who brought her one received a big hug. She enjoyed teasing the staff and other residents at Legends and they loved her ornery and fun-loving personality. The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of Legends, as well as Crossroads Hospice for the help and support they offered during Brenda’s illness.
She was preceded in death by her parents James and Roberta Mitchell and a sister Janet Elwood. Brenda is survived by her brother-in-law, her “Six Pack” of nieces and nephews, and their families: Rene Wallin of Piedmont and her children Tyler, Nolan, and Whitney Wallin; Shelia Breasette and husband Sam Breasette of Yukon and their children Austin and Alexis Breasette; Duane Elwood of OKC; Shaun Elwood of OKC; and Travis Elwood of OKC; Heather Aaron and husband Shaun of OKC and their children Landen, Keelee, James, and Maddison Aaron; brother-in-law Les Elwood of OKC. She is also survived by numerous cousins, as well as a longtime childhood friend Margie Pickle from Bethany.
