Sally was born on March 6, 1941 in Gouverneur NY. She graduated from Gouverneur High School and continued her education at a beauty school where she earned her cosmetology license. She was later married to Richard C. “Dick” Wood in 1962.
Sally ran a beauty shop out of her home and was a caregiver while her children were young. She loved to cook and feed her family. When the boys opened “Ma’s Deli” in Ogdensburg, she was in her glory. Sally would make homemade specials everyday for her customers, making friends with everyone that entered. When she wasn’t working, she was looking for a new recipe from one of her many cookbooks. There is a reason everyone call her “Ma”.
Sally loved to interact with people. She joined the Oddfellows so she could help with refreshments during bingo, and later play cards with the ladies. She loved to garden, play cards, weekends spent in Kingston Ontario, attending food shows, spending time with her grandchildren and watching their sporting events. Sally also had a fondness for her pet dogs that were more like children.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Ogdensburg SPCA. Condolences and fond memories can also be shared online at www.foxandmurrayfuneralhome.com.
