Mrs Mary Jane MJ or Nan Lanthier Francis

Funeral services for Mary Jane Francis, age 78 of Lisbon, will be held at 7:00pm on Wednesday (Jan 30, 2013) at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home with Rev. F. James Shurtleff officiating. Burial will be in the spring at White Church Cemetery in Lisbon.

Calling hours will also be held on Wednesday from 4:00pm until the time of the service at the funeral home. Mrs. Francis passed away Thursday (Jan 24, 2013) at Duke University Hospital in North Carolina.

Surviving are three sons Michael Francis of Lisbon, David Francis of Durham, NC, Christopher Francis of Oklahoma; a daughter Barbara Schroeder of Lisbon; 9 grandchildren Michele Lashway & her companion Joe Kardel of FL, Mark Francis, Kevin Francis, Kelly Francis & her companion Billy Preston all of Lisbon, Korey Francis & his wife Holly of Ogdensburg, Nicole Lowe & her husband William of Hammond, Courtney Scriminger & her husband Michael of Canton, Linzi Carvel & her husband Jason of Antwerp, Stacey Schroeder & her companion Ben Gratto of Lisbon; 15 and counting great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law Martha Lawrence & her husband Jr.of Indiana along with nieces, nephews & cousins.

Her husband Bertram Francis, a daughter-in-law Karen Francis and a brother Robert John "Jack" Lanthier predeceased her.

Mary Jane was born on January 25, 1934 in Ogdensburg, NY a daughter of the late Joseph & Dorothy (Purcell) Lanthier. She married Bertram L. Francis on October 31, 1952 at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Ogdensburg, and was employed at the St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center Food Service Department for 20+ years during her career.

She was a member of St. Philips and James Catholic Church, the SLPC Retiree Food Service Lunch Club, the Red Hat Society and a volunteer for the Richard E. Winter Cancer Center. In her spare time she enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, watching TV, her cats, listening to music, knitting, crocheting, having lunch with friends and spending time with her grandchildren.
