Funeral services for Arthur A. Davies, age 55 of Lake Street in Ogdensburg will be held 11:00am on Wednesday (May 30, 2012) at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home with Rev. Rob Schirmer officiating. Interment will be at a later date at Foxwood Memorial Park.
There will be no public calling hours. Mr. Davies passed away on Thursday (May 24, 2012) at his home under the care of his wife, special friends and Hospice of St. Lawrence Valley.
Surviving is his wife Paula and their four dogs Peter, Paint, Jasmine & Willie; a brother Ralph Davies & his wife Ann of Ogdensburg; brother-in-laws Kirk Ramsey, Robert Ramsey, Joseph Ramsey & his wife Byrdie; sister-in-law Karyl Clifton & her husband Dave of Ontario; special friends Stan Breen of Ogdensburg, “Weegie” O’Hara of NC, John Tulip of Ogdensburg, Dave Esper of Utica; an uncle Ralph Westfall of Vienna, VA and several nieces, nephews & cousins.
Art was born on April 4, 1957 in Mt. Kisco, NY a son of the late Archibald & Mary (Westfall) Davies. After graduation, he operated a commercial dog kennel in Southbury, CT where he raised smooth fox terriers. In 1984 he relocated to the Northcountry and continued his education at Canton ATC where he received his nursing degree in 1987. He then became employed at A. Barton Hepburn Hospital for a period, until 1988 when he transferred to the St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center working in the maximum secure care unit until 1990.
He was a life member of the National Riffle Association, a member of the St. Lawrence County Sportsman Club, a past member of the Ogdensburg Moose Lodge, a member of the National Hot Rod Association and enjoyed bowling, golfing, deer hunting, fishing, helping others, racing super stock cars and computers. He will be missed by many for his generous heart and loyalty.
Memorial contributions have been requested to St. Jude’s Hospital, St. Lawrence Valley Hospice, The Salvation Army, St. Lawrence County SPCA or the Ogdensburg Rescue.
