Twilla was born on August 7, 1949 in Demmit, Texas to Otha and Medrith Rowell. The family later moved to Odessa where she grew up and attended school. Twilla graduated from Ector High in 1967. She loved singing in the choir and cheering at pep rallies as an Eaglette. She made many lifelong friends during her school years.
After high school, Twilla began working as a secretary for, and then started dating Eddy W. Bundick. On September 14, 1968 the two were married in Dalhart, Texas. She also became a new mother to Eddy's two beautiful children. Twilla and Eddy would go on to complete their family having four children in all. Twilla and Eddy's love for one another was apparent to everyone that knew them. They had a happy home and many wonderful adventures together before his passing in 1983.
Twilla worked for over twenty years for ECISD in administration and most of that time as the Registrar for Permian High School. She loved and embodied the MOJO Spirit every day. She could be seen cheering on the band and football team at games, or down on the field holding the run thru signs. She would be on the track passing out hot cocoa to band kids during the playoffs when it was twenty degrees in the stadium. She would be at graduations, handing out diplomas and at the spirit store buying yet another MOJO t-shirt or spirit pin to add to her collection. Twilla loved her job and was well respected by her co-workers and peers.
A truly magnificent and devoted mother, Twilla's commitment to her children's wellbeing and involvement in their lives and activities showed no bounds. She worked tirelessly to make sure they had everything they could possibly need and most often what they wanted. She loved to say “The very best is just barely good enough for my kids”. And she lived that every day. She was always the favorite mom among her children's friends and her home was where they all wanted to be.
Her sense of humor and witty personality made Twilla the star of any room she was in. She absolutely loved music of all genres and was never at a loss for a song. She loved listening to The Gaithors with her brother, and singing Motown hits or Fleetwood Mac with her daughters. Her home and life were both always full of music and the sound of her sweet, beautiful voice. Being around Twilla just made your heart happy. Her presence will be deeply missed in the lives of so many.
Twilla is preceded in death by her parents, Otha & Medrith Rowell, by her beloved brother, Doc Rowell and by her husband, Eddy W. Bundick.
