He was born in Odessa, Texas, on March 7, 1957, to Adalberto and Evelia Calderon. Steve was an only child and spent many happy days with family, cousins, and grandparents. Steve attended school in Odessa and graduated from Permian High School. His professional career included working in TV production and Southwest Airlines.
Steve was preceded in death by his father, Adalberto Calderon, grandparents, M.G. and Tomasa Calderon, Rosendo and Paula Evaro, and is survived by his mother, Evelia Evaro Calderon, Uncles Rogelio Evaro and Antonio Calderon; Aunts Marta Evaro, Elisa Evaro, Ella Alvarez and three loving cousins, Roy David Evaro, Kathy Evaro Rubio, and Lydia Evaro Madrigal and numerous other cousins and kind neighbors. He was loved by his cousins, many of them seeing Steve as a brother. Roy was at his side during the last few months of Steve's life.
Steve lived away from Odessa for many years but always loved spending Christmas and other holidays with his parents. Steve enjoyed many vacations with his parents that they all treasured. Steve was talented in making yard and home decorations for the season and during Christmas, the more lights the better! Steve loved and appreciated all genres of music.
Steve had many friends and loves in his life, but there was one very special lady that brought him much joy. Steve was a faithful and generous friend with his time and support Steve was beloved by many for his sense of humor, intelligence, curiosity, and interesting facts that he would love to share. But most of all, for those of us who knew him well, we loved him for his kindness and gentle soul. He will be greatly missed.
A rosary for Stephen will be held Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at 7:00 PM at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home, 601 N Alleghaney Ave, Odessa, Texas 79761. A graveside inurnment will occur Thursday, May 2, 2024 at 8:45 AM at Ector County Cemetery, 300 S Dixie Blvd, Odessa, Texas 79761.
