Sandra Shepherd

Sandra Beth Gibson Shepherd, 70, of Midland, TX, passed away Tuesday, January 10, 2012, following a years-long illness of Lewy Body Disease.

Sandy was born to Marion “Tex” and Bernice Gibson of Stanton on March 5, 1941. She enjoyed her pre-high school years in Stanton and moved with her family to Kansas in 1954, graduating from Baxter Springs, KS, High School in 1959. Sandy Completed business studies through Draughn Business School and continued working throughout her life. She moved back to Texas in 1976 and married David Shepherd June 9, 1979.

Sandy was a totally devoted mother and loving wife, finding great pleasure and joy through cooking, traveling and reminiscing with family and friends. Everyone who knew her cherished her sharing of these moments. Sandy and David were members of Faith Lutheran Church in Stephenville, where she served with dedication on the Altar Guild until she was no longer able to do so. She retired as Office Manager from TexStar Ford-Lincoln-Mercury, Stephenville, TX, in April 2006.

Sandy was preceded in death by both parents. She is survived by her husband, David, and two children, Debbie Brown and husband Doug of Tulsa, OK; and Steve Meier and wife Torie (Davis) of Midland, TX; also two stepsons, Jon Shepherd and wife Lesley (Dodrill) of Schertz, TX; David Shepherd and wife Debbie (Qualls) of Bluffton, IN; and nine adored grandchildren. She is also survived by her beloved sister and brother-in-law, Jeanene and Jim Wheeler of Stanton and loving nephew and nieces; Gib, Sandra and Julie.

Sandy has donated her body for scientific research through Science Care, Inc. exemplifying her caring and giving nature. A memorial/celebration-of-her-life service will be enjoyed at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 5110 North Garfield, Midland, TX, Saturday, January 28, 2012 at 2 pm.
