Ronald “Ron” Reese, 68, of Odessa passed away Monday, May 12, 2014 at Medical Center Hospital. He was born November 25, 1945 in Lubbock, TX. He graduated from Odessa High School in 1964. He attended Odessa College and received his commission as a Law Enforcement Officer. He married Linda Jean Clark March 25, 1966 in Odessa. He served in the US Marine Corps during the Vietnam era. He was owner of Reese Coffee Service. He was former Stallion Manager for Winnermaker Farms, Graham Farms & McDonald Equine & Veterinary Hospital. He was owner of West Texas Concealed Handguns. He had worked as a Medical Examiner Investigator, & Director of Security for Medical Center Hospital and retired in 2008. He was a member of the Odessa Jaycees and was named Outstanding Young Man. He was a past Hunter Education Instructor, personal protection, pistol, rifle & shotgun instructor. He graduated “Top Gun” in the law enforcement Academy. He was a Commissioned Law Enforcement Officer. He obtained his private pilot’s license, numerous scuba diving certifications, he was an avid fisherman, loved the ocean and travel. He was a member of the Odessa Chuck Wagon Gang, Odessa Chamber of Commerce and National Rifle Association.
He is preceded in death by his parents Willard & Louise (Bell) Reese and brother Ed Reese. He is survived by his wife of 48 years Linda Jean Reese of Odessa; daughters Mylinda Jo Allen of Odessa, Lori Rae Wagner & husband Randy of Odessa; mother-in-law Mary Jo Briley of Odessa; (4) grandchildren Holden Allen & wife Jordan, Micheal Allen, Caden Tucker, Briley Tucker; great-grandson Harrell Allen; brother Larry Reese & wife Jennifer of Red Oak, TX; and his faithful four legged companion Blue.
A visitation will be held 6-8 pm Friday, May 16, 2014 at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Saturday, May 17, 2014 at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Bob Thayer officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
