Melvin Lee PeeWee Cherry

He was born January 20, 1927, to John H. and Georgia (Turner) Cherry in Winfield, TX. He married Ouida Chappell on September 7, 1946, in Colorado City, TX. He worked as an electrician for Phillips Petroleum.

He is preceded in death by his parents John and Georgia Cherry, his wife Ouida Cherry, his son David Lee Cherry, his grandson Shane Lynn Turner, five sisters Willie Lou McBroom, Georgia Mae Smith, Nicie Ann Brewer, Altie Lee, and I.V. Ballard; and three brothers Jim Henry Cherry, John Henry Cherry, Jr, and Isham Cherry.

He is survived by his daughter Linda Turner of Odessa; five grandchildren Deryn Turner, Kevin Cherry, Keyna Spooner, Kimberly Clement, and Gina Holder; six great-grandchildren Sam Conrad, Rebecca Gunter, Blake and Emma Cherry, and Madison and Bryson Clement; two great-great-grandchildren Luke and Saleen Gunter, and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members.

Family visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Monday, May 18, 2015, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, May 19, 2015, at Hubbard-Kelly Chapel with Dr. Jimmy Braswell officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.
