Joe was born in Pecos, Tx on July 5, 1944 to the late Jose and Francisca Carrasco. He graduated from Balmorhea High School and continued on to receive a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from The University of Texas – El Paso (UTEP). He married Delia L. Carrasco on November 18, 1972; they were married for 51 years.
He worked as a mail processing clerk for the United States Postal Service, General Mail Facility of Midland, Tx for 35 years. Joe enjoyed having a good meal at his favorite dining spots with family, watching any kind of western movies and TV shows with John Wayne, spoiling his dogs, deer hunting, and listening to Tejano music. When Joe wasn’t working, you could always count on him helping family and friends with any kind of favor they might need, as he was always the person many of us turned to when we needed help…and he always did so with that warm smile and made you feel better. Joe’s selfless acts of kindness is how he positively impacted so many lives. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Joe is survived by his spouse, Delia L. Carrasco, children, Michael Carrasco and wife, Maria Gonzalez Luna, Diane Carrasco-Jaquez and husband, Rudy Jaquez; brother, Robert Carrasco, and sisters, Gloria Velasco and husband, Alfonso Velasco, Socorro Gabaldon and husband, Rey Gabaldon; grandchildren, Breanna Carrasco, Daniela Valles, and husband, Alexis Valles, Miranda Carrasco, and many wonderful nieces and nephews.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Francisca Carrasco, sister, Socorrito Carrasco, and brothers, Israel Carrasco and wife, Consuelo Carrasco, and Oscar Carrasco.
The family of Joe Carrasco wishes to thank all of the family, friends, and co-workers who showed him so much love and support during a time when he really needed them.
Visitations for Joe will be held Thursday, August 15, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Friday, August 16, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM with rosary starting at 7:00 PM at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home, 601 North Alleghaney, Odessa, TX 79761. A funeral mass will occur Saturday, August 17, 2024 at 1:00 PM at St Mary's Catholic Church, 612 E 18th St, Odessa, TX 79761. A committal service will occur Saturday, August 17, 2024 from 2:15 PM at Sunset Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home, 6801 E, Odessa, TX 79762.
