John Otto Stallard, age 91, passed away Wednesday, November 9, 2011, at his residence in Odessa.
He was born May 26, 1920, to Neil and Frances Marjorie (Edwards) Stallard in Elgin, KS. He married Alma Cowan on October 26, 1941. He served in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1946 and was a veteran of World War II. He was a lifetime member of the VFW.
He was a barber from 1941 to 2010. When he came to Odessa in 1943, he was the youngest licensed barber in Odessa, and when he retired, he was the oldest licensed barber. He owned and operated City Barber Shop for many years. Since his retirement, he has enjoyed going to Pojo’s and visiting with his friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
He is survived by his sons, Michael Dale Stallard and wife, Betty of Ft. Stockton, TX; Joe Neil Stallard and wife, Karin of Wichita Falls, TX; and John Robert Stallard and wife, Margaret of McAllen; eleven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services with military honors will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 14, 2011, at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
