James Edward Munro, age 54, passed away Friday, October 18, 2013, at his residence in Odessa. He passed away after a 14 year battle with MS.
He was born June 15, 1959, to Horace Harold Sr. and Birdie Jean (Babcock) Munro in McCamey, TX. He was an actor appearing in productions at Odessa College, The Globe Theater, Permian Playhouse, UT Austin, and Cloudcroft Summer Mummers. He loved to cook and worked in food service management including a time at the Barn Door. He played trumpet, the piano, and had a beautiful baritone-singing voice. He was a member of St. Andrew Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
He is preceded in death by his birth father Horace Harold Munro, Sr., his dad Floyd Earl Tims, and his step-father William Boyd Hughes.
He is survived by his mother Birdie Tims Hughes; daughter Amanda Michelle Munro; brother Horace Harold Munro Jr, all of Odessa; sisters Floy Elam of Abilene, Kathleen Rice of Arlington, Susan Tims of Allantown, PA; and Cheryl Bookout of Monahans; grandmother Jean Babcock of Kingsland, TX; sister-in-law and caregiver Molly Aileen Munro of Odessa; Ex-wife Terri Munro of Odessa; nephew John Horace Munro of Odessa; niece Virginia Jean Keene of Odessa; nephew-in-law Jimmy Neatherlin of Odessa; dear family friend Patricia Mosley of McCamey, TX; and his loyal loving pets Mable, Simon, and Belle.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 23, 2013, at Hubbard-Kelly Chapel with Dr. Jimmy Braswell officiating.
As was his wishes, he will be donated to The Genesis Project.
