Edith ‘Jane’ Reid passed away January 23, 2019 at Helen’s Care Cottage in the Woodlands, TX. She had recently moved to the Houston suburb with her daughter, Cathy and had previously lived in Odessa, TX for over 60 years.
Jane is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Cecilia and James ‘Lefty’ Mitchell of Grapevine, TX; daughter, Catherine ‘Cathy’ Reid of Conroe, TX; son, Griffin ‘Griff’ Reid of Robstown, TX; daughter-in-law, Molly Thorn of Rockport, TX; one granddaughter, 4 grandsons, one great-grandson and two great-granddaughters. She was preceded in death by her spouse of 62 years, Jasper Ray Reid ‘J Ray’; daughter Candace ‘Candy’ Logan; son-in-law Tom Logan, and grandson Jimmy Mitchell.
Jane was born October 24, 1924 in St. Petersburg, FL where she met and married J. Ray. They soon moved to Texas, where he was from and in 1956 moved to Odessa where they raised their four children. J. Ray and Jane belonged to the First United Methodist Church, where they remained members until their deaths and making many long-life friends along the way.
Jane was a member of the Permian Study Club, PEO, United Methodists Woman’s, a volunteer for the Medical Center Hospital Ladies Auxiliary and Meals on Wheels, along with many other agencies throughout her life.
Graveside services will be held at 4pm on Saturday January 26, 2019 at Sunset Memorial to honor her life.
