Charles R. Blythe was born on January 9, 1925, in Greenbrier, Arkansas. His father moved the family to North Kansas City, Missouri, to pursue work with the railroad. Charles graduated from high school in May 1942. He moved to Odessa soon after graduation and went to work in a local grocery store for his uncle, Grady Blythe. Returning to Kansas City, Charles entered the U.S. Navy in January 1943, and completed basic training at Naval Training Center, Great Lakes, Illinois.
He returned to Odessa in 1948, He owned and operated Everybody's Food Stores. He was a Charter Member in the Downtown Lions Club and active in the community. Later he and his wife moved to Horseshoe Bay. Later Charles then moved back to Odessa.
He was an avid golfer, loved to play bridge, fish, hunt, dance and travel.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by daughters; Cathi Boutin and husband David and Jacki Wrinkle both of Odessa, five grandchildren;
Lindsey Boutin, Juli Smith, Jana Harlow all of Odessa, Jeff Boutin of Irving, and Tyson Wrinkle of Hutto, five great-grandchildren, sister; Emma Jean Lankford of Greenbrier.
A memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 5, 2012 at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.
