Bobby Glenn Tinney, (82), of Midland passed away on December 22, 2016. Bob was the first born to I.W. and Ola Tinney on February 19, 1934 in Wellington, TX. He was a graduate of Wellington High School class of 1952 where he lettered in baseball and basketball. Bob worked the family cotton farm until he was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1957 where he served in Heidelberg, Germany. Upon honorable discharge in 1959, he joined his family business, Top O’ Texas Builders in Pampa, TX.
Bob married Mary Kennedy Lamer on January 23, 1973 and they began MBT Homes. They relocated to Las Vegas, NV in 1989. Upon returning to TX in 1992, they formed Classic Homes of Midland where they built custom homes until their retirement in 2009. Bob enjoyed reading, playing golf, and an occasional hand of blackjack. His family remembers him for his work ethic, honesty, sense of humor, and his devotion to those he loved.
Bob was predeceased by his parents and brother, Donald Wayne Tinney. He is survived by wife Mary Tinney of the home, daughters Rhonda Tinney (Michele) of Cottonwood, CA; Debbie Mercer of Odessa, TX; Kathy Zeolla (Ziggy) of Midland, TX; Sons Stanley Tinney (Anita) of North Richland Hills, TX; and Kavin Tinney (Irene) of Blackwell, TX; 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren; his sister, Wanda Sue Skulley of Pampa, TX; and his beloved canine, Dee.
Arrangements under the direction of Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home of Odessa, where viewing will be Monday, December 26, 2016 from 4-6 pm. Services will be held Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 1415 N. Grandview Ave, Odessa, TX at 10:00 am and officiated by Reverend Dr. Jimmy Braswell. Pallbearers will be Odessa Fire Rescue’s Fire Chief Roger Boyd, Assistant Chief John Alvarez, Battalions Chief’s Pat Land, Danny Wyatt, Bobby White and Division Captain Joey White. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park in Midland.
