Betty Jeane Hobbs

Born to Dorothy and Ray Wiseman in Albion, IL. she attended school in St. Louis MO. and later in San Francisco, CA. when her father was sent as a guard to the West Coast during WWII. She returned to southern Illinois when her father was called into service, and graduated from Mt. Caramel High School in Mt. Caramel, IL.

She married Jess Hobbs on May 2, 1952 in Lovington NM.

She has been a resident of Odessa, TX. since 1971. Betty worked for AT&T and volunteered for Meals on Wheels, the Literacy Council, and Gail Pond Elementary. She was a Sunday school teacher and musician at Wesley Evangelical Methodist Church.

Betty was a devoted servant to her family, her church and her country.

She is survived by her children, David Hobbs and his wife Caroline, Christy Harp-Hobbs and husband T.C. Harp; grandchildren, Jessica Foster and husband Steven, David O’Neal and wife Ranie, Sarah Hendrix and husband Kody, and Jerry Don Bevel; great-grandchildren Christopher O’Neal, Caleb O’Neal, Robert O’Neal, Kaytlin Hendrix and Abigail Hendrix. Betty was preceded in death by her mother and father, her husband, and grandson Cpl. Ray Bevel.

Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 pm Thursday, December 22, 2011 at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Home. Services will be held at Wesley Evangelical Methodist Church at 2:00pm, Friday December 23, 2011.

Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be David Ray Hobbs, David O’Neal, Jerry Don Bevel, Christopher O’Neal, Caleb O’Neal, Kody Hendrix, T.C. Harp and Steven Foster.
