I first got to know Coach Ted and his son David through basketball, beginning in elementary school and continuing through high school. Ted had a deep passion for both basketball and his faith in Jesus. Some of my best childhood memories are spending time with Ted and David, playing ball and hanging out together. Ted was not only a great coach, but also a valuable mentor to me on and off the court. I’m very grateful to have known him and the Wallendorf family.

Coach Ted was an amazing human being. I had the privilege of playing for him and with David in middle school & high school, where we won a lot. Ted loved winning, but he loved his players more. He treated me and my family so well. He went above and beyond to make us winners on the court, but also in the game of life. He shared Jesus with all his players and continued to encourage me well after my playing days. Ted and the Wallendorf family will always be special to me.

My memory of Ted began when I first saw him entering Mount Marty's cafeteria. Long trench coat, hair sticking all over the place like he just rolled out of bed, standing 6'5" and built like a linebacker. Someone mentioned he was recruited for the basketball team, and I wondered what prison he was just released from!   He was actually a gentle giant and a heart large enough to care about all his extended Mount Marty family. This contradiction continued when he started dating Linda, a beautiful, shy and tiny mid-western girl. Conventional thought is, they would never last. After all Ted had a Brooklyn accent so strong I thought he was not speaking English most of the time.  This was similar to the Ogre and Fiona falling in love story. Well, they stay in love together and not only enjoyed their children but became very proud grandparents. Linda and the kids were always top priority for Ted followed closely by his deep conviction and love of our lord. Ted never missed an opportunity to move everyone closer in their relationship with Jesus. I was able to meet son David at one of our basketball gatherings. He was such a kind, knowledgeable and gracious young man. I had to tease Teddy about who the real father was. Teddy just beamed with pride. Our team became lifelong friends, and I would receive a call or text from Ted at least monthly.  We prayed together whenever someone was in need, and I always felt he had a direct line to our lord due to his incredible faith, charitable heart and devotion. Those moment of us whether in person, on the phone or text messages will be missed.  Teddy, you live on in our memories as a loving husband, father, grandad, friend and "baller", You are with Jesus and those who have passed before you. See you on the other side my friend.

Teddy is my big brother, and always thought of others before himself. He was always so loving and kind and full of the joy of the Lord. He loved  Jesus Christ with all his life and wanted everyone to know Jesus too,because Jesus Is the greatest gift to mankind, didn’t want anyone to leave this world without Him,because after this life on earth there is eternity, Ted was one of my best friends and I will miss him so much.But I know where Teddy is, he is Home for Christmas with our family members who came before us. Have faith in God and trust in Him always,receive Christ Jesus in your heart today He loves you so much,Jesus Is The Gift you need this Christmas,find out for yourself,Linda,Josh,Valinda,Jennifer,David Robbie Ted was so proud of you guys,he never stopped talking about you to everyone.
