Sandi Robinson, Age 83, passed away peacefully and went to be with her Lord Jesus Christ, on Saturday April 30,2022 surrounded by her loving family at her bedside in Sharp Cornado Hospital, after a lengthy decades long battle with Parkinson’s disease.
Born in Naugatuck, Connecticut to Ethel and Jospeh Mikletonas, emigrants from Vilnius, Lithuania who came to America seeking a better future for their family, Sandi attended elementary and high school in Naugatuck, where she met the love of her Life, Fred Robinson in Junior High School. Having similar interests in music, religion, family and life-long learning, they bonded immediately and eventually got married during college. They started a family with their first- born Keith and when he was 2 ½ years old, they made the decision to move to Los Angeles to begin their careers and expand their family. Sandi continued her nursing career in LA and then Calabasas, and pursued her Master’s Degree in nursing from Cal State Northridge, while Fred accepted an elementary school teaching position. Eventually they moved to Lake Arrowhead, California where Sandi was the School District Health Nurse for 20 years. During their retirement years, Sandi and Fred moved to San Diego so as to be close to their children and grandchildren.
Married for 62 years, their marriage embodied enduring love and respect for each other, faith in GOD, and a belief in family as their bedrock foundation. Sandi was the pillar of the family. Her grace, compassion and devotion to her family and her faith in GOD never faltered and these qualities are strongly imbued in her four children Keith, Chris, Dana and Kristi, her daughters-in-law Shea and Tamara, son-in-law Stuart and her 7 grandchildren (and one great Grandchild), all of whom adored her. She always put her family first and accepted the vicissitudes of life with equanimity, always leading her family to move forward without regret. Faced with many challenges while navigating raising a family and having a professional career, and later dealing with her lengthy illness, Sandi always maintained a positive attitude and a can-do spirit.
Sandi found time to read the Bible daily and also indulged in cross-word puzzles, reading mysteries, watching Hallmark movies, old tv shows and black and white movies. Sandi and Fred were fortunate to travel around the world in their retirement, and to spend countless time watching their grandkids in sporting events. Sandi often regaled her family at frequent holiday gatherings with personal poems and intricate short stories completed on her Underwood Typewriter.
Sandi will be dearly missed by her family and friends. There will be a private burial service. A memorial service and celebration of life is planned for May 26, 2022 at the Coronado First Baptist Church in Coronado, Ca and all are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, contributions will be gratefully accepted to the Parkinson’s Foundation.
