JoAnne was an energetic long-time Carlsbad resident who taught in the Oceanside School District as an Elementary Teacher for over 20 years. She was married to Capt. Joe Koenigs, USN, and was a devoted mother to her two children, Joe and Kim, and to her puppies. She was active in her community for as long as she lived in Carlsabad volunteering as the TriCity Hospital Gift Shop Manager, and a volunteer for the Carlsbad Triathalon and at the Ecke Farms Flower Fields (think Rannunculas). She was passionate about traveling the world and was a vivacious, loving, and determined woman.
JoAnne passed away after battling Pulmonary Fibrosis for approximately 5 years. A memorial is being held in her honor at 1 pm, Thursday May 19 at Eternal Hills Mortuary in Oceanside, CA.
She is sorely missed by all who knew her.
