Martin was born in Ruma,Yugoslavia to a farming family. After WW2, he and his wife
Margarete along with a young son , Dietmar, emigrated to Austria in search of a better life.
After years of economic hardship in Austria, Martin & Margarete brought their now family of 3 ,
incl young daughters Margaret & Brigitte born in Austria, to the United States in 1955. The
family flourished in Chicago, IL. After a lifetime of work, they were able to retire comfortably in
sunny Vista, California.
Martin was preceded in death by his wife Margarete and son Dietmar (Peggy). Martin is survived
by two daughters: Margaret Bergeson (David) and Brigitte Nagel (Jerry Cross); four
Grandchildren: Bonnie, Melissa, Phillip and Nicole; four Great Grandchildren: Ian, Kyra, Peyton
and Sidney.
